Things to do in Verbier (Besides MTB)

If you are coming to Verbier for a holiday this summer then there is plenty to do besides the many kilometres of amazing mountain biking routes, so if you are looking for some other activities to give some variety to your trip here are some ideas:

Hiking, Verbier has multiple hiking routes to suit any age or fitness level, from the Bisse de Levron with its gentle gradient and beautiful views of the Val de Bagnes, to the Pierre Avoir ridge line trail and the Lac des Vaux loop which will challenge the legs as well as providing incredible vistas of some of the highest peaks in the Swiss Alps.

Family fun, there are plenty of options around Verbier for keeping the children entertained in this outdoor paradise. The sports centre has two well maintained swimming pools, tennis courts and an ice rink. There is a crazy golf course in the centre of town. At Medran there is a small climbing area where you can rent harnesses and try climbing in a safe environment on the 'auto belays' and there is also a trampoline. It is also possible to rent 'trotinettes' which are mountain scooters to take on the gentle fireroad from Ruinettes to Medran. Within an hour drive of Verbier there is also a high ropes course and a waterpark!

Family fun in Verbier

Cabanes, The Alps are famous for their mountain huts and there are several around Verbier if you fancy spending the night up on the mountain after a day hiking/biking. The huts are basic, with dormitory sleeping, but most are staffed throughout the summer and can provide you with a good evening meal, breakfast and can sort out a packed lunch for the next day. Overall you can't beat waking up surrounded by pristine alpine scenery!

View from Mont Fort, Verbier

Mont Fort, the Verbier 4 valleys lift area encompasses a vast amount of terrain as well as a huge amount of vertical metres. The summit of this area is Mont Fort, 3330m high and offering unhindered views of Matterhorn, Gran Paradiso and Mont Blanc this is a must visit during any stay in Verbier. It isn't possible to hike or bike all the way to the summit so you must use the cable cars for at least some of the journey but there are some great options to combine this spectacular scenery with some gentle exercise.

Nearby attractions, the best part about being near the centre of the Alps is you are close to a lot of the major sights. Chamonix and Zermatt are both only an hour or two away from Verbier and thanks to precise Swiss organisation can be reached easily by the excellent public transport network. Closer by are other sights such as Mauvoisin dam, Grand St. Bernard pass and Chateau de Chillon in Montreux.

If you have any questions or would like help booking anything don't hesitate to contact us and we hope to see you this summer.
